FVE welcomes the agreement on the Animal Health Law
The Federation of Veterinarians of Europe , FVE, welcomes the informal ‘trialogue' agreement on the Animal Health Law reached by the European Parliament, the Latvian presidency of the Council of ministers and the European Commission.
The draft EU law on diseases that are transmissible among animals and potentially to humans will merge and update existing scattered directives and regulations into a single package of coherent legislation.
The draft law now needs to be officially approvedwithin shortly by Council and European Parliament, followed by a lawyer linguist check. The final version is expected to be ready for adoption in the autumn.
FVE is an umbrella organization of 44 veterinary organisations from 38 European countries, representing a total of around 240 000 veterinarians. Finnish Veterinary Association, Suomen Eläinlääkäriliitto ry, is a member.
