Yliopistollinen eläinsairaala aloittaa syksyllä läheteperusteisen eläinten käyttäytymisklinikan.
Lemmikkieläinten käyttäytyminen on tärkeä osa nykyaikaista eläinlääkärin työtä, sillä terveys, käyttäytyminen ja hyvinvointi vaikuttavat toisiinsa. Nykyisin on saatavilla tieteellistä apua käytösongelmiin ja asiakkaat hakevat tätä apua yhä enemmän eläinlääkäreiltä.
Seminaarissa klinikan vetäjät, Isossa-Britanniassa eläinten käyttäytymistä opiskellut Tuulia Burgherr (DVM) ja pitkän linjan käyttäytymisasiantuntija David Appleby (MSc, CCAB) kertovat käyttäytymisongelmien tunnistamisesta, hoidosta ja ennaltaehkäisystä eläinlääkäreille ja eläinlääketieteen opiskelijoille. Lisäksi käyttäytymisklinikkaa pitävä ELL Nina Menna Vetcaresta kertoo feromonien käytöstä käyttäytymisterapiassa. Seminaarin kieli on englanti.
Companion animal behaviour is an essential part of modern veterinary practice due to the reciprocal links between health, behaviour and welfare. The wealth of research and science based literature available means that evidence, rather than opinion, based diagnosis and treatment can be made available to clients and their pets. Increasingly the link with the veterinary profession is being promoted and client expectations of being able to seek help within this context will increase. This seminar will focus on the appropriate approach to behaviour problems and the benefits of behavioural awareness to the veterinary practice through discussion of some of the typically presented issues.
