We are pleased to announce the EpiNOVA course in Advanced Veterinary Epidemiology!

This is a replacement and continuation of the previous EpiNOVA courses in Veterinary Epidemiology. The course is primarily intended for PhD-students from the Nordic countries, but additional persons may be accepted. The maximum number of participants is 33.

Prerequisites

Participants must have:

* A degree in animal science or veterinary medicine or similar background.

* Basic knowledge in biostatistics and epidemiology, i.e. study designs; measures of disease frequency; screening tests; measures of association; confounding and interaction; linear and logistic regression.

Teachers and teaching

The main teacher is Professor Ian Dohoo, University of Prince Edwards Island, Canada, a renowned epidemiologist and teacher. The course will consist of two separate 1-week didactic modules, one in September and one in November, with a mixture of lectures and laboratory sessions. A major assignment following the first module and work on the student's own data integrated into and following the 2nd module is also part of the course. The course will cover: structured approaches to data analysis using linear and logistic regression as examples, models for count and time to event data, generalized linear mixed models, and repeated measures data.

Place and course fee

The course will be held at Lyckhem Skärgårdspensionat. It is located in Skeppsmyra in the beautiful archipelago of Stockholm. We will arrange a bus pick-up in Uppsala and Norrtälje, to facilitate getting to Skeppsmyra. Lodging will primarily be in twin bedrooms.

There is no course fee for PhD students from Nordic or BOVA universities, and accommodation costs are also covered for NOVA-students. Other participants will have to pay a course fee (including accommodation) of approximately € 1000 (other Baltic PhD-students) or € 1300 (other participants), while non-NOVA Nordic and BOVA students pay the accommodation cost. All participants pay for their own travels.
